Living with presence is about cultivating a fundamental shift in how we relate to experience and live our lives. It’s a shift that is subtle, powerful, challenging and deeply rewarding at the same time. It’s a shift that generates more spaciousness in our lives, fosters deeper connection with Self and others, helps us to tap more effectively into our inherent intelligence and wisdom, and our capacity for actualising our potential in all dimensions of life.
Rather than fixing or changing anything, this shift is about welcoming the full glory and catastrophe that is our life with presence – and by doing so, fully inhabiting our moments of choice. The moments that harbour opportunity for change and growth, and a turn of the kaleidoscope.
Mindfulness entails being fully present and aware of our experience without judgement on a moment-by-moment basis. Although this sounds simple, it is not always easy, but can be trained and developed over time. Doing so literally rewires our brains and changes how we relate to experience, opens up choice, brings more calm into our lives and makes us more resilient.
This 8-week introduction to mindfulness is based on Jon Kabat Zinn’s well-documented and expertly crafted mindfulness-based stress reduction programme (MBSR), which has already helped millions of people across the globe and from all walks of life to lead more empowered lives.
It is highly participatory, supportive and structured. It consists of 8 weekly 2 ½ hour group sessions with guided mindfulness and meditation practices as well as group work and discussion. The course is both challenging and life-affirming, and will provide you with a firm understanding of this life-changing practice. One of its key elements is that participants are encouraged to practice at home for around 20 – 40 minutes a day during the eight-week programme.
