A Somatic Movement Laboratory for Exploring Change

Somatic movement education, expressive art and integrative bodywork

A workshop exploring change and transformation – that mysterious process at the root of all life that weaves through our lives like a golden thread connecting all events, internal and external; mostly unacknowledged, often subtle, nearly imperceptible, yet at other times, manifesting suddenly and forcefully much in the way lightning strikes.

Drawing on the understanding that body and mind are one, exploring the body’s response to change can provide us with valuable insight into our habitual and unconscious ways of responding to change because, in the words of Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen

“The mind is like the wind and the body like the sand: if you want to know how the wind is blowing, you can look at the sand.”

Vice-versa, using the body to explore different ways and options both of responding to and moving with change can have a deep effect on the mind (our neurology) and expand our repertoire of potential responses and actions in the face of change, with potentially transformative effects.

In the words of John Teasdale, “In the clear seeing IS the letting go”. I.e. once we become aware of potentially unhelpful patterns, we significantly lessen their hold on us, paving the way for transformation and change.

This workshop is a precious opportunity to explore our habitual responses to change playfully and safely, as well as finding new ways to meet and move with change in everyday life, thereby expanding our range of responses as we dance with the ever-shifting kaleidoscope of ever-changing experience in our lives.

This workshop is a perfect opportunity to gain a deeper insight into your process for anyone curious about or feeling challenged by change and transformation in their life.
